The boulder is your software. Push it up the hill: every terrace you reach ships a release, and every release adds a module, so the boulder grows. Every module rots, slowly on its own and fast when something happens to it: a dependency drifts, a test turns flaky, an advisory lands. Rot makes the boulder heavy, and a module rotted through is down, and the town's lights go out. At the summit the next major version ships. Then the platform under it reaches its end of life.
Mouse: look. WASD: walk; walk into the boulder from below to push it. On a terrace, push from above to roll it back and turn it. Shift: hurry.
Hold E on a module to patch it. Hold R to retire it: one less thing to keep. Hold F to refactor it into the module it uses: slower, but no users lost.
Q: sit and look at the view. V: see him from behind, or back to his eyes. M: sound. Tab: every climb so far. F1: the controls on screen. Esc: free the mouse.
Drag on the left half to walk (all the way out to hurry); walk into the boulder from below to push it. Drag on the right half to look.
Hold Patch while looking at a module to patch it; hold Retire to retire it, or Refactor to fold it into the module it uses. Sit looks at the view; Camera switches between his eyes (the default) and a view from behind him. History along the top shows every climb so far, and Sound turns the sound on or off.
The game saves every minute, when you press Save (or F5), and when you leave the page; F9 loads the last save. Saves stay in this browser on this device. Built on the Strata engine; source.
